At the award ceremony on Thursday, 30 November 2023, at Kö59 in Düsseldorf, our founder and Managing Director Erno Marius Obogeanu-Hempel and our Senior Consultant Gerald Draht were presented with the two awards: 2nd place in the “Organization” category and an award in the “Strategy” category.

BEST OF CONSULTING MITTELSTAND reviews the project success of consulting firms. A six-member jury and an advisory board evaluate the customer benefits of the projects based on the following criteria:
- Content: Creativity, analytical contribution, methodical contribution, market and industry knowledge.
- Communication: reputation, networking, moderation, teamwork, project management.
- Reality effect: effect on operating result, feasibility, own contribution to implementation, scope.
- Customer satisfaction
The comprehensive consultant check identifies Germany’s best management consultancy projects and thus creates clarity in a non-transparent market.
The award is therefore a valuable guide and helps customers in their search for the best possible consultant for their next project.
Award for the consulting project “Badenova” with 2nd place in the category Organization – Best of Consulting Award
The consulting project at Freiburg-based energy supplier Badenova was awarded 2nd place in the Organization category.

How much does it cost to take part in the “Best of Consulting”?
Participation in the Best of Consulting is free of charge.
Who is eligible to participate?
Eligible to participate in the Best of Consulting Mittelstand segment are consulting firms with an average consulting turnover of at least €500,000 but no more than €10,000,000 over the last three years. Consultancies based abroad that advise companies in the DACH region can also take part.
Why do participating consultancies have to specify a minimum turnover?
The minimum turnover requirement is intended to ensure that the consulting services advertised with the project submission can also be obtained by potential clients in the future.
Categories of the Best of Consulting Mittelstand for the project evaluation this year and the determination of the winners for the award
The categories are: Strategy, Finance, Manufacturing & Operations, Purchase & Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Organization (including Change Management), Technologies.
From the world of sustainability – special prize as part of the competition
At this year’s Best of Consulting, special prizes were awarded for Sustainability, Female Consultants and Digital Transformation, among others.
The competition serves to identify the consulting firms that are the best in their field in order to select the best consultants for the next project
The competition and the associated WirtschaftsWoche consultant check are intended to help customers in their search for the best possible consultant (e.g. best management consultants, management consultancies or management consulting) for their next project – and honors the best in their field with an award or seal. The evaluation of projects with customer benefit as the main criterion is at the heart of the methodology.
From blue chips to SMEs
The competition is divided into 3 three segments: “Best of Consulting Blue Chip” for global consultancies with at least. 500 million euros turnover worldwide. “Best of Consulting” for established consultancies with at least 10 million euros turnover. “Best of Consulting Mittelstand” for medium-sized consultancies with a turnover of 0.5 to 10 million euros.
